Montgomery County Kayak-a-Thon 2026
About the Event
The Montgomery County Kayak-a-Thon is an annual paddling event hosted by Visit Montgomery County NY. In 2026, the route has been reversed from the previous year — participants will launch from Riverfront Park in Canajoharie and paddle approximately 13 miles downstream along the historic Mohawk River, finishing at Fonda Park.
Kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddleboards are all welcome. Whether you're a seasoned paddler or trying it for the first time, this is a great way to experience the natural beauty of the Mohawk River Valley.

Everyone is Welcome at Fonda Park
You don't have to paddle to enjoy the day. Come to Fonda Park to cheer the paddlers as they finish, enjoy food vendors, family-friendly activities, and live music by Spike and the Boys beginning at 5:00 PM.
Vendors Wanted — August 22 at Fonda Park
We're inviting food vendors, artisans, crafters, and local businesses to set up at Fonda Park for the Montgomery County Kayak-a-Thon on Saturday, August 22, 2026. Paddlers finishing a 13-mile route down the Mohawk River will arrive at the park starting around 4:00 PM, joined by spectators and families for an afternoon of live music by Spike and the Boys beginning at 5:00 PM. It's a great opportunity to reach a motivated, community-minded crowd celebrating the Mohawk River Valley.
